Transferring from the Wisconsin Technical College System

Students transferring from one of the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) liberal arts programs at Madison Area Technical College, Milwaukee Area Technical College, Nicolet Area Technical College, and Chippewa Valley Technical College, to a University of Wisconsin System baccalaureate granting institution may generally apply up to 72 semester credits earned at non-baccalaureate institutions.

University of Wisconsin System institutions may accept in transfer up to 30 credits of general education coursework within the areas of communications, behavioral sciences, social sciences, mathematics and natural sciences from WTCS programs leading to an applied associate degree. In some cases, UW System institutions may also accept occupational/technical courses from WTCS applied associate degree programs. In addition, under certain articulation agreements between WTCS institutions and University of Wisconsin System institutions, students in certain WTCS applied associate degree programs who subsequently enroll in a related University of Wisconsin System Baccalaureate Degree program maybe able to transfer related occupational and technical credits. These credits may transfer to other University of Wisconsin System institutions only if a similar credit transfer or articulation agreement exists.

Students planning to transfer will find it advantageous to consult advisers and admission staff well before the intended semester of transfer. It is always beneficial to the student to be aware of transfer agreements, requirements and policies.
