Services for Veterans

A veteran is a former member of the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard who served on active duty and was discharged other than dishonorably.

The UW System campuses are approved for the education of reservists, veterans, disabled or deceased veterans' dependents, and war orphans under programs provided by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the state Department of Veterans Affairs.

The university must certify each student's attendance and credit load to the Veterans Administration. Payments of veterans' benefits depend on the number of credits carried.

WI G.I. Bill

The WI G.I. Bill provides tuition waivers for certain eligible veterans, spouses, or dependents to attend UW System institutions or Wisconsin's Technical Colleges. It became effective for the 2005–2006 academic year. Details on eligibility and application procedures are listed in the WI G.I. Bill brochure.
